AHRA RULES OUTLINE
These rules and regulations are designed to further the safety of the sport of AHRA drag racing and to enhance the competitiveness of the sport, and to explain the basics and requirements of the classes, cars and drivers. Heading the list of priorities of the American Hot Rod Association is safe competition and to be of service to the drag racing community and competitor. If at any time there are questions and you feel that this organization can be of any assistance to you, please allow us the opportunity to assist by contacting us.
We encourage you to read this AHRA General Rules and Procedure section very carefully. It could save the participant both time and money over the race season. One thing to consider is that any modification and/or condition not expressly or otherwise permitted in this rule book should be considered illegal, unless written permission is obtained from the AHRA Track / Race Director. If there are areas of the rulebook that need clarification please contact your Track / Race Director.
The rules and regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED, WRITTEN, OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or any official. The Track / Race director shall have the authority to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions and NO EXPRESSED, WRITTEN, OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATIONS OF SPECIFICATIONS. The interpretation or deviation of these rules will be left up to the discretion of the officials and their decision is FINAL.
: DISCLAIMER :
Drag racing is a dangerous sport for all participants. This rule book defines all participants as any person/s who are directly or indirectly associated with any vehicle which has been permitted to enter the event site for the purpose of competition, including, but not limited to OWNER, CREW, DRIVERS, SPONSORS, FAMILY MEMBERS or any other person/s involved with any vehicle. In addition, any person/s engaged in product displays or the selling of products or services, will be defined as participants as well.
Participants can and may suffer bodily injury, death, damage or loss to property during an AHRA event. Participants who enter any AHRA event are acknowledging that the event site is considered safe and suitable for racing and that they understand and assume the risks that are related to each drag racing and AHRA event.
Participants also acknowledge that by participating in any AHRA event they may suffer bodily injury, death, damage or loss to personal property. All participants voluntarily assumes any and all risks and responsibilities of any losses and agrees to hold harmless the American Hot Rod Association (AHRA) or any of its track affiliates to include, AHRA officials, event sponsors, racetracks, racetrack officials, or any other event participant free of any responsibilities or losses incurred at any AHRA sponsored or sanctioned function, for any such loss or losses and hereby releases, waives, discharges and covenants not to sue the promoters, participants, racing associations, sanctioning organizations or affiliated entities thereof, track operators, track owners, officials, vehicle owners, drivers, pit crews, rescue personnel, and persons in any restricted area, promoters, sponsors, equipment and parts manufacturers and suppliers, advertisers, owners and lessees of premises used to conduct the events, or any director, officers, agents and employees.
Any and all participants will be required, as a condition of entering the track; to sign all required forms, including such releases as determined by the AHRA and track procedures. The AHRA makes NO REPRESENTATION OF WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED, WRITTEN, OR IMPLIED that compliance with the rules and regulations posted in this rule book or the safety requirements published by any host tracks, will prevent or guarantee against injury or death to any spectators or participants or the damage to personal property. The rules and conduct guidelines set forth within this rulebook, and the safety rules as set forth by the tracks and sanctioning body are intended solely as the minimum acceptable standards. SAFETY IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE EVENT.
: ASSUMPTION OF RISK :
Any and all participants who upon entering into any AHRA sponsored or sanctioned event, agree to be bound by all rules, regulations, terms and decisions made by the AHRA Officials. Any and all decisions, whether they are made prior, during, or after any event are final and may not be made the basis of litigation toward the AHRA or AHRA officials or staff.
By entering into any AHRA sponsored or sanctioned event, all participants hereby release the AHRA, AHRA officials, AHRA staff, and race track officials from liability relating to any loss, costs, damages, death, or injury relating to any decisions, erroneous or otherwise, or decisions based on malfunctioning electronic or mechanical equipment, whether due to negligence or otherwise.
* The AHRA Director, Track / Race Director, and Tech Director are the only officials with the authority to disqualify a participant from any AHRA sponsored or sanctioned event for noncompliance of rules. These AHRA officials may, and will disqualify a participant in the event of any violation relating to the decision, rules, or regulations of the AHRA or those of the host racetrack. Regardless of the circumstances or situation, the decision of the AHRA Director is final.

AHRA has announced its proposed rules for the upcoming 2010 season. In doing so, we are openly subjecting all rules and classes to be commented on by the racing community until January 8, 2010. At that time, after giving careful consideration to your feedback, changes can be made, and the final rule book will be published. We feel this unprecedented process will be a major step in achieving the satisfaction for the future members of the AHRA.
